I got sidetracked on the way to my falafel again today. That Tower outlet I wrote about a couple weeks ago that seemed all but gone? There were a ton of people in there, so I stopped in to check it out. They're back with a fresh supply of stuff. All CDs are $6.99 or 2 for $12. Most of them are used, but that's still not bad. And there's a huge selection -- completely unorganized in any way whatsoever, so you have the pleasure of digging through and picking up lots of things that wouldn't have occurred to you. A surprising amount of good stuff, too. Mostly pop, rock, hip-hop, electronica, and soundtracks from the last few years. Obscure, popular, you name it. I had to stop a third of the way around the store, because my arm got full. There were a ton more I would have bought if I didn't already own them. (In fact, I saw so many familiar titles, I need to remember to check later at home to make sure mine are still there.) I don't quite know what the deal is with that store. Perhaps this is the new M.O. there, or maybe they only had such a good selection because they just got a big shipment in. If you're in the mood for the music-shopping fun, stop by (3rd between Townsend and Brannan). (Oh, be sure and check the CD surface for scratches -- no returns, unfortunately.) BTW, they aslo have books. I bought four R.E.M. books for a total of $7. No, I'm not that much of an R.E.M. obsessive, but at $1.75 each, it was hard to say no. Now I got some ripping to do...
