I think we can stop manufacturing phone cables for a while

I swear, the average geek must have at least 3 dozen unused, three-foot phone cables. They come with every computer, every phone, every modem, every device, seemingly. I just opened a powerstrip box, and there was one in there (true). Jason Goldman mentioned the other day he got one with a pair of socks (not sure if that's true). And it's annoying, because it's the type of item that implies just enough usefulness to deny being thrown away. But I have a whole sack of these things by now. Someone should do something creative with them, like the world's biggest phone cable ball, or "bring a phone cable, get in free!"
