Oddly, yesterday, my Function key on my laptop wasn't working. Among other inconveniences, this meant I couldn't switch to CRT mode and use my monitor as usual, but had to stare at my little laptop screen all day. Today, it's working again. Much easier on the eyes. But, then, having had the monitor in the floor, it was sort of refreshing to not have this big, bulky hunk of glass and plastic directly in front of me, blocking my view of the world (er...the rest of the room). At Moreover, everyone works on laptops and almost no one has monitors because of their bulky blockiness (I think that's why, anyway). I understand the appeal, but I can't stare at my laptop screen all day long (unless it's sitting on my lap, which is how I work at home). Conclusion: Flat panels. Flat panels are the future. (Yes, you heard it here first.)
