Shrek is out on video and DVD. I'm not sure when it came out in theaters, but doesn't that seem pretty quick for a major movie? If so, I think it's smart. I've long had a theory that the tiered-release schedule for movies is dumb. That they'd get more bang for their buck if they released on video/DVD and pay-per-view at the same time (or damn near) as the theater release (even though they make more money per "user" in the theater). That way, they cash in with all formats when the hype is at its peak. It's just a theory, but if I had more time to write, I'd back it up more.
