A Christmas story: I make a habit when at my office, especially by myself, to always unlock the door when I go elsewhere in the building and am not carrying keys, so I don't get locked out. Just now, for some reason, I did the opposite. I was going upstairs and, unthinkingly, I closed our door behind me, locking it as I left. The moment I heard it shut, my heart sank in dread, realizing what I'd just done. At midnight on Chrismas Eve, with my co-workers out of town and my house keys, car keys, and wallet inside my office, I locked myself out. To set the stage: Our office is in a basement, with brick walls on three sides and windows that don't open.

Since I'm posting this at 12:45, you've already surmised it wasn't the tragedy I've set it up (and honestly thought it was) to be. In fact, it was actually about 12:30 this happened. Miraculously, I was able to get in within five minutes -- without breaking any windows or doors and without anyone's help (as if I had a chance in hell of anyone being around). I'm obviously not going to give the details of how to break into our office. In fact, I'm going to make it so it's not that easy. But I'm sure glad it was for the time being. Happy Christmas to me! :)
