Morphine's latest (and final) album, recorded just before Mark Sandman's death, is now out. Though I only have one of Morphine's albums, and rarely listen to it (it's just one of those that, ya know, you never think about, but then when someone comes over to your house and puts it in, you think wow, this is great, I should listen to it more often?), I love their music. According to Anthony DeCurtis, "The Night is Morphine's most ambitious and accomplished work."

They were scheduled to play in the Bay Area on the night of webzine99, with Soul Coughing, one of my favorite bands ever. I think pb had tickets, and I was struggling to decide which to go to. Unfortunately, Sandman's death the week or so before made the decision all too easy.
