What kind of two-bit operation is 3Com running these days anyway? For those who asked, the webcam I bought was the 3Com HomeConnect. I was going to go with the significantly cheaper ($70 or so versus $140 or so) CreativeLabs Video Blaster WebCam 3, but it only appeared to support Win98, which I don't run. Actually, I think 3Com was just better about acknowledging support for Win2k before it was out, but the 3Com camera was reviewed a little better, in terms of image and software quality, so I felt fine paying more for it. I finally get it hooked up last night. All goes well. And then, this morning, I come in to find the software shut down because it's not registered and will only run for an hour. To register it, I need to send a check for $25 to Neil Kolben in BFE. I can't believe I paid $140 for this thing and they don't even throw in a registered copy of the shareware to run it -- especially when they advertise the fact that they include it. Two words: Cheap. Asses. Two more possible words: False. Advertising.
