As a general rule, it's a lot harder to enjoy music if you buy (or have access to) too much of it at once. It's a matter of time. Come to think of it, this is a an unsung drawback of Napster. I wasn't really talking about that, though. I was talking about the fact that I've been buying too many CD's lately which -- especially, combined with the extra music I've been getting from occasional Napster experiments and the co-workers CD's that have been contributed to the company MP3 library -- has kept me from really getting into anything. CD's I've purchased recently that I have yet to listen to enough:

  • Lyle Lovett - The Road to Ensendada
  • Lyle Lovett - Joshua Judges Ruth (This and the one above were just purchased at Amoeba yesterday, and I've listened to most of both of them already, so that's not a bad start.)
  • Human League - Greatest Hits (Had a nostalgia trip and purchased this at Half.com -- impressed with the service/site/price. Have yet to listen, but downloaded Fascination the other day.)
  • Neutral Milk Hotel - On Avery Island (Actually, not purchased [yet], but borrowed from Caterina. Listened to once. Distortedly great. Not to be confused with this one.)
  • Brian Eno and David Byrne - My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts (Listening as I write this. Originally released in 1981, seems it was amazingly before its time. All sampled vocals. Complex Byrne rhythms. Superb.)
  • Talking Heads - Fear of Music
  • David Byrne - The Catherine Wheel (I found myself in a TH/Byrne/one-clicking mood one day.)
  • The Tragically Hip - Music @ Work (Classically Hip sound. Hope they get around here on their current tour. So good live.)
  • Era - Era (Purchase on a whim via an Amazon recommendation. I did listen to this once. I don't think I like it.)
  • Mazzy Star - Among My Swan
  • Fiona Apple - When The Pawn...
  • Tori Amos - To Venus and Back
  • Sinead O'Connor - The Lion and the Cobra
  • Garbage - Garbage (I love Version 2.0. I love this too, but hadn't owned it.)
  • The Posies - Dear 23. (I don't know if I like this at all, but I like "Frosting on the Beater," and I needed to reach the minimum Kozmo delivery order, which is only $5 but I thought was $10.)

I should probably make all the above links, but that seems more effort than it's worth. Seems like that should be automated in some way. Like, by this tool I'm using to post this. Hmmm...
