I was browsing in Tower the other day and ran across A*Teens: The ABBA Generation hooked up to some headphones. It was very disappointing. The classic songs were almost laboriously reproduced in a completely unimaginative, unemotional, and synthesized way. Perhaps this is the sad result ABBA turning down the supposedly billion-dollar offer to start touring again? Anyway, as the Amazon review put it, "The A*Teens alter the near-perfect disco anthems with only hints of more modern, high-tech tweaks." Then again, the reviews from the (I'm guessing) fourteen year-olds are generally positive. And hey, the kids are much better-looking than Bjorn, Agnetha, Frida, and Benny probably are these days, so I guess that's what matters.
