Now more than search. Finally it is revealed why Atomz has had the tagline "Build Better Web Sites" for a year now -- which you may have wondered about if you thought of them as a search company -- as well as how they managed to land $15 million in funding for what seemed like a niche service: Atomz Publish is their newly announced, hosted, content management system. I was on an NDA about this product coming out, but I don't really know much about it. The feature list is rather vague so far, and there's no information about pricing on the site. (And don't bother with the Flash presentation unless you prefer your bullets animated. I was hoping for some screen-shots or diagrams or something, but nothing of that sort yet.) I know this isn't a personal publisher's solution -- they're targeting large sites, competing with Vignette, etc., and it won't be cheap. I do think, in general, it's a great idea (of course). Of all the applications that may make sense to be hosted, content management is a natural. I also find this line rather interesting:
Patent-pending, eh?
The key to the Atomz Publish system is its patent-pending templating system, which allows Web designers to clearly separate Web content from site design, and then give access to non-technical users of the Web site so that they can edit the content themselves.
