Dave Eggers: "...Seen through cynical eyes, everything is a ploy or gimmick, except, I suppose, doing everything exactly as it's been done since the beginning of time." From his clarification to David Kirkpatrick's piece in The New York Times about the paperback version of A Heartbreaking Work.... Eggers really takes Kirkpatrick to task and makes him sounds like a shockingly unethical journalist. I was a bit surprised -- the NY piece didn't seem that bad to me, but it seems that Eggers is a bit sensitive about these things at this point. And, as always, fun to read. <via Halcyon>
