No more latte?

No more latte? Maybe there's something to this drop in the latte market, after all. I was talking with the owner of a coffee shop this morning who said that lately business has been the slowest she's ever seen it. I don't know how long that means, but I know she's been in SF much longer than I. She said she didn't think it was the dot-com collapse, specifically, though, because she didn't get many dot-commers. And, anway, she said, they were never really rich, that was a myth, because it was all on paper. I didn't mention that, while perhaps not rich, there were still plenty of relatively inexperienced young people who were suddenly infused (and, subsequently, uninfused) with $70K+ salaries. And that buys a lot of $3 morning beverages. Anyway, I was yelling at the TV news last night for beating this dead horse of a dead economy to death, which just makes it deader. So I'll shut up now.
