Attention. Most of life, it seems, comes down to attention. What you pay attention to determines your quality of experience and the quality of what you create. Most people are good at paying attention to certain types of things. And most people don't pay attention to what they pay attention to. Success in business requires paying attention to lots of different types of things: money, people, product, customers, infrastructure, and various aspects of each of those. Building a business takes a mind that can pay attention to lots of different things, and building a solid team is a matter of getting all the required attention bases covered. Most people who start companies tend to recruit people who like to pay attention to the same types of things they do. Balance is rare. The most balanced teams are usually built by people who are good at paying attention to the company itself, rather than just the product or some other aspect. But as long as one is aware of what they tend to pay attention to, and that attention must be paid to other things as well, properly balanced attention can be achieved.
