There was an interesting bit that struck me in Jakob Nielsen's piece on why HailStorm was the Savior of the Web.: "So far, Microsoft has not been particularly successful in getting developers to ship significantly more Internet solutions for Windows than for other platforms. But HailStorm could change that, since it presents a simple choice: launch a service for HailStorm and get paid money, or target alternative platforms and get paid eyeballs." Huh? I remember reading that Microsoft would get paid for HailStorm-delivered services, but I didn't catch that they would provide an infrastructure for others to get paid. Is that true? It certainly makes sense, but it's a whole different proposition. Perhaps I missed something big here...
