A short story.

One of the funniest things I ever heard (at the time) was when I was in high school, and I went into a party with a friend, who, as will be clear in a moment, was already three sheets to the wind. So, we walk into the party, and the first thing he says, after a moment or two of getting our bearings, is, "We ain't staying here, this room's spinning." That struck me as very, very funny. (I probably wasn't exactly sober at the time—but even in retrospect. Funny.) I always wondered if was just trying to be funny or if that was his genuine thought. Surely it's something one would say just to be funny, but he was really drunk and not all that clever. So I still wonder. I also realize, so please don't tell me, that this story is probably not all that funny to you. The end.
