Something someone should write about (and I'm sure someone has): Different things you should focus on during different phases of your startup. There's a lot of philosophy thrown about regarding whether to focus on scaling or not, user testing, marketing, adding features or optimizing features. And they're all right. But also wrong. Because rarely do people take into consideration the phase a company is in. I don't just mean small versus medium versus large. Things like traffic/user growth (or not growth), size of userbase, whether a small number of people are totally digging your service, or a ton are coming and visiting and then going away, and lots of other things related to your momentum (or lack thereof), and the direction of that momentum, can significantly change where its appropriate to put your resources. Just a thought.
