I used to have a rather high opinion of Dell, and I've still been rather happy with all the equipment I've purchased from them. But last month I had the fiasco with my laptop, and for the last few days I've been trying to order a server from them with dismal results so far. The most annoying thing: I get a message saying "Your Dell Account Team and Dell Online have built you a private, customized web site for you and your company....Our online configurator allows you to customize any system and purchase at your discount level." Ignoring the fact that this implies that if I use this site, I'll get some special price, when in fact, the prices are just the same (Obviously, my discount level is zilch, thank you.), this "private, customized web site," -- which I enter a username and password to get into -- doesn't even know who I am! When I go to check out, I still have to enter *all* my contact information -- even my customer number -- when at the top of the page it says my dang company name! Tell me again why this company is considered one of the premier ecommerce companies on the web? The bar is *so* low.
