Shit. Why: PayPal has been an extremely innovative company with tons of potential. I hate to see that sacrificed (or limited) in the service of eBay. It's hard to imagine the PayPal API and other cool non-eBay-relevant features will be a high priority under the new regime.
On the other hand, if PayPal gets 60% of their business through eBay, their sales will probably go up substantially once eBay starts promoting them instead of their rival service. And it's not like eBay hasn't been impressive itself. But mergers are almost always a bad idea over the long term, so I'm not optimistic.
